This past year I have read more that I have in a very long time.

Having become engaged in social networks such as Twitter, consuming news content via my iPhone and iPad and all of the reading that goes along with learning from others on social networks and sharing news that is important to me has made me more excited about learning and reading that I have been in many years.

Instead of feeling like I need to pick up a book on my own, I now am learning along with others, learning with and from them.

Although this fantastic learning journey that I am on has caused me to get a little less sleep than I would like to have, I am keen to start my learning first thing in the morning and continue until I can’t stay awake. I am excited about learning!

But, my excitement for learning did not happen by accident. I had Colin Harris (@digitalnative) share with me the power of Twitter for learning and encourage me along with way along with many other Ontario teachers that are active on Twitter (e.g. @dougpete/ontario-educators). Karen Steffensen (@kstef2) shared with me Scoop.it (http://www.scoop.it/u/kevin-merkley?widget=grey) and the power of curating topics and how relevant my learning can be in assisting others.

I look forward to learning more with all of you in 2012, and hope that my learning will help others as we move forward togethers in education and learning.
